The Trinidad and Tobago Promoters Association (TTPA) origins can be traced back to the late 1990’s to the early 2000’s. It was the initiative of one of our Board Executives, Mr. Derek Douragh, to have an Association to represent the Promoters of Trinidad and Tobago. The concern then was the passing of the EMA Law for Noise Pollution which was passed in Parliament without consultation with any existing promoters or Sound Companies.
Conversations continued with more promoters and the challenges were becoming greater for our sector with the increase in police strength, fire officials and the constant fear of Environmental Managemental Agency (EMA) and Copyright Music Organisation of Trinidad & Tobago (COTT) cancelling your event. Event license issued by the court also became a tireless process as well. It was then decided that a non-profit organization should be formed and that gave birth to the TTPA in January of 2017.
Since then to now the TTPA has grown having already in its membership established promoters with younger ones joining who are already showing that the TTPA will have continuity with strong leadership.
